Stats
4/24/08 HLS
5, Cristo Rey 6
The Knights were defeated by Cristo Rey Jesuit High School by a final
score of 6-5. Cristo Rey capitalized on numerous errors in the 2nd
inning, scoring all 6 of their runs. The Knights chipped away at
the lead and rallied in the last inning. With just one base away
from tying the game, the final out was recorded. Highlights include
a strong start (pitching) by RJ Soller, George Struder going 2-2 with
a home run, Scott Canter going 2-2 with a triple, and 10 stolen bases
as a team.

HLS 10 PHCS 9
The Knights defeated Perry Hall Christian School in a close game that
came down to the final out. The Knights jumped on the Panthers early,
scoring 4 runs in the first, and at least once in each successive inning.
Jacob Rathbun went 3-3 and struck out 8 from the mound. Scott Canter went
2-2, including a homer, and drove in 4. Josh Smith went 2-2 and drove
in 2. Luke Marquardt, Alec Davey, Tyler Amato and Scott Miller also recorded
hits for the Knights. With two outs in the last inning of play, with the
tying run on 2nd and go-ahead run on 1st, Henry Wakefield relayed the
batted ball from right field to Jacob, who gunned the ball to home as
the tying run was approaching the plate. When the dust cleared, catcher
Scott Miller still had the ball in his glove to record the final out.
It feels good to win, but the team displayed character and modesty in
victory.

9 WNA 29
The Knights
managed to keep their heads up after a very tough 1st inning versus West
Nottingham Academy (16 runs scored), coming right back in the second and
putting 7 runs on the board. The Knights shut down WNA in the second and
third innings and managed to chip away at the lead. In the 4th inning,
WNA reentered their starters resulting in a big 4th. Highlights include
Jacob Rathbun going 3-4 with 2 RBI’s, RJ Soller went 1-2 with an
RBI, and Sean Green went 1-2 with an RBI. Ryan Kraus scored in his first
ever time on base. Overall, the team was pleased with the improvements
made in the batter’s box and on the base paths, and despite the
score, was gracious for a chance to play. Knights pitching continues to
improve.
4/8/08 HLS
0 GGCA 17
The Knights
competed against a tough Greater Grace Christian Academy team and were
defeated. The team was blanked against GGCA, but learned the importance
of plate discipline and field awareness that they will be applying in
future games. Take away GGCA’s big 3rd inning and the score would
have been 8-0. Highlights include Josh Smith’s no-hitter breaking
bunt single in the 5th, and solid team defense.
4/3/08
HLS - Beth Tfiloh +
The Knights
struggled for 2 innings of numbing baseball and were behind when the umpire
called the game on account of freezing rain and gusting winds.
